PERMITTING

At Shoreline Engineering, the permitting process is approached strategically, with deep knowledge of state and federal regulations. The right permits are identified early, along with the fastest paths to approval. Each project receives a tailored permitting strategy, often utilizing tools like the State Programmatic General Permit (SPGP) to streamline reviews and avoid unnecessary federal involvement.

Applications are prepared for a wide range of coastal and waterfront projects, including docks, boathouses, seawalls, and dredging. Agencies regularly worked with include:

  • Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)

  • Florida State Lands Division

  • Florida Water Management Districts (NWFWMD, SRWMD, etc.)

  • Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM)

  • Alabama State Lands Division

  • Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR)

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)

  • And others, as needed

Thorough, well-documented applications and prompt responses to agency review comments help minimize delays. While agency timelines can be unpredictable, we proactively coordinate with permit reviewers to keep projects moving. When a minor project modification could significantly reduce permitting time, clients are informed—because the ultimate goal is getting projects permitted as efficiently as possible.
